Glozman To The Windy City, David Heads South In Latest MLP Roster Shuffle

Major League Pickleball saw another shake-up this week as the Chicago Slice (2-6, 8pts) and the Atlanta Bouncers (4-11, 12pts) agreed to a straight player-for-player trade. The transaction, announced Tuesday afternoon, sends Vivian Glozman to Chicago and Vivienne David to Atlanta.

At first glance, it’s a roster swap that raises eyebrows—especially considering the performance trends and playing styles involved.

Chicago Slice: A Fresh Start For Glozman

Chicago’s updated lineup now features:

Callie Smith, Vivian Glozman, Pierina Imparato, James Ignatowich, Max Freeman, and Carlos Di Laura.

For Glozman, this marks her third team since the offseason, having already cycled through the New York Hustlers and Brooklyn Pickleball Team before her recent stint with the Bouncers. Her record in Atlanta—11-19 across 15 matches—never quite matched her potential, though she showed flashes of brilliance. She went 5-10 alongside MLP newcomer Victoria DiMuzio in women’s doubles and 6-9 in mixed with Jaume Martinez Vich.

Now in Chicago, Glozman looks poised for a much-needed resurgence. She’s expected to partner with veteran Callie Smith in women’s doubles—an upgrade in experience and chemistry that could shift momentum in the Slice’s favor. In mixed doubles, she’ll likely reunite with James Ignatowich. The pair previously made a run to the quarterfinals of the 2024 PPA Las Vegas Cup, showing clear potential.

Glozman also brings real value in DreamBreakers—an area where Chicago has struggled this season with a 1-3 record. Her singles aptitude and fast hands could add a layer of reliability when matches go down to the wire.

And perhaps the most surprising element of the deal? Chicago didn’t have to give up any draft capital or cash considerations to land her.

We’ll get a first look at the retooled Chicago lineup—complete with Glozman—this weekend at MLP Daytona Beach.

Atlanta Bouncers: A Curious Fit For Vivienne David

Atlanta’s new roster now includes:

Victoria DiMuzio, Vivienne David, Rachel Rettger, Jaume Martinez Vich, Todd Fought, and Sam Querrey.

Vivienne David comes in with an 8-8 record from her time with the Slice. On paper, the trade does little to solve Atlanta’s key weaknesses. David is most comfortable on the right in doubles, which will push DiMuzio—a less proven left-side player—into unfamiliar territory. That mismatch could limit Atlanta’s consistency, particularly against stronger teams.

There is some intrigue in a potential David-Martinez Vich pairing in mixed doubles. Vich’s aggressive shot-making combined with David’s steadiness could create an interesting dynamic, but it’s a gamble for a team looking to rebound from a rough 1-5 outing in Phoenix.

The motivation behind the trade may not be entirely strategic. Reports of team chemistry concerns emerged during Atlanta’s recent appearance in Phoenix. Internal tensions could have expedited the deal—especially given that no money or draft considerations changed hands.

David is expected to debut for the Bouncers during the Mid-Season Tournament, scheduled for July 9–13.

Final Take

This deal appears to be a clear win for Chicago. Glozman gets a much-needed reset in a system where she can thrive, while the Slice bolster both their starting lineup and their DreamBreaker depth.

For Atlanta, the move feels more reactive than calculated. If chemistry was truly the driving factor, then perhaps the front office felt it was necessary. But purely from a performance standpoint, it’s hard to see how this trade helps the Bouncers make a serious second-half push.

Still, MLP trades don’t happen in a vacuum. Sometimes, the off-court variables matter as much as the on-court ones. Only time—and a few tightly contested matchups—will reveal who truly came out ahead.
