Become Ready To Coach
Level 1 gives aspiring coaches the practical foundations needed to teach beginner pickleball safely, clearly and confidently.
Level 1 Certification
- 1 hour guided self-study
- 2-hour practical training session
- Practical coaching assessment
- Full Certification or Provisional Certificate based on assessment
Includes the Level 1 course handbook, practical training and assessment.
Candidates should have at least six months of pickleball playing experience and/or coaching experience from another sport.

Practical. Structured. Clear Standards.
Candidates are assessed across three core coaching competencies.
Playing Ability
Demonstrate the fundamental skills needed to teach and demonstrate pickleball effectively.
Lesson Delivery
Explain, demonstrate and run drills clearly while keeping players engaged and progressing.
Ball Feeding
Feed accurately and appropriately for the objective and level of the drill.
Evaluation Grades
Coaching Ready
Demonstrates the skill confidently, consistently and independently at the standard expected of a Play! Pickle coach.
Certification Standard
Demonstrates the required skill competently and consistently enough to meet the Level 1 certification standard, with only minor areas for further development.
Provisional Pass
Demonstrates a workable foundation, but further development is required before meeting the full certification standard.

Level 2 is for certified coaches ready to move beyond beginner instruction and develop improving players.
Player Development & Applied Coaching
Prerequisite: Level 1 certification
Designed for coaches who are already comfortable teaching the fundamentals and are ready to develop players beyond beginner level.

Before You Sign Up
When are the next Level 1 courses?
The next Level 1 Coaching Certification courses are Sunday, 18 October 2026, Sunday, 8 November 2026 and Sunday, 29 November 2026, from 12 PM to 2 PM at St Patrick's School, 490 East Coast Road, Singapore 429058.
Do I need coaching experience?
No prior pickleball coaching experience is required for Level 1. Candidates should have at least six months of pickleball playing experience and/or coaching experience from another sport.
Do I automatically receive Full Certification after attending?
No. Candidates are assessed across Playing Ability, Lesson Delivery and Ball Feeding. Full Certification requires at least two Grade Bs or better across these three areas.
What happens if I do not meet the Full Certification standard?
You will receive a Provisional Certificate. There is no Fail outcome. You may retake the Level 1 course assessment for S$50 to work towards Full Certification.
Can every fully certified coach teach Play! Pickle classes?
No. Only candidates who achieve at least two Grade As in the Level 1 assessment are eligible to coach Play! Pickle classes. Eligibility does not guarantee a coaching assignment, which remains subject to available classes and Play! Pickle's coaching requirements.
Do I need Level 1 before Level 2?
Yes. Level 2 is designed as the progression pathway for Level 1 certified coaches.
