Open Play Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to all Play! Pickle Open Play sessions, in addition to our general Terms & Conditions. Where the two differ, these Open Play terms apply. By registering for an Open Play, you agree to these terms.

1. Who Open Play is for

  • Open Plays are not suitable for absolute beginners or first-timers.

  • Before signing up, please make sure you know the rules of pickleball, can hold a rally and can keep score.

  • Ideally, you should have played a few matches and feel confident about rallies and game play.

  • Beginners are welcome to join our group lessons or private lessons instead.

2. Registration & payment

  • All players must register and pay for the specific Open Play session before playing. Your place is only confirmed once payment has been received.

  • Please check the venue, date and time before you pay.

  • You may not bring other people, including family members and friends, to play for free, even if it's just to use our singles courts. Every player must be registered and paid for.

  • Anyone who enters or plays without registering and paying will be banned from future Play! Pickle events and may be reported to the authorities.

3. Cancellations, transfers & refunds

  • Open Play fees are non-refundable.

  • You can transfer your place only if you let us know at least 1 hour before the session starts. Please tell us why you can't make it and who is replacing you. Your replacement must meet the requirements in Section 1.

  • The full fee applies even if you don't play for the whole session.

  • If Play! Pickle cancels a session and no reasonable replacement is offered, your fee will be refunded or credited as appropriate.

  • For outdoor or weather-affected sessions: if more than half the session was completed before play stopped, it counts as completed and there's no refund. If less than half was completed, an eligible refund may be given as CourtReserve credit.

4. Conduct on court

  • Please treat coaches, staff and other players with respect, and follow reasonable instructions from the person in charge.

  • The person in charge may remove you from the court for unruly or unreasonable behaviour, without a refund.

5. Health, safety & risk

  • You are responsible for making sure you are physically able to play.

  • If you get injured or feel unwell, stop playing and tell the person in charge.

  • Pickleball involves normal sporting risks, such as slips, falls, collisions and being hit by a ball or paddle. By taking part, you accept these risks.

6. Equipment, belongings & facilities

  • Any equipment provided must be used properly and returned at the end of the session. You may be charged for equipment or property that is deliberately or negligently damaged, lost or not returned.

  • You are responsible for your own belongings. Play! Pickle is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen or damaged.

7. Photos & videos

  • Photos and videos may be taken during Open Play sessions.

8. Changes to sessions

  • Play! Pickle may change the venue, court, format or timing of a session where reasonably necessary.
